You might be here because...
Something has shifted and you can't quite name it. The life you've built looks right from the outside. But lately there's a gap between how things look and how they actually feel.
Maybe you're exhausted in a way that sleep doesn't fix. Maybe you've been carrying other people's needs for so long that you've lost track of your own. Maybe a relationship has gone quiet, or your kids have left, or you're staring down a career that used to mean something and wondering where that feeling went.
How do you explain that you have everything you're supposed to have and it still doesn't feel like enough?
You're not falling apart. You're functioning, probably impressively. And that's part of what makes this hard to talk about. How do you explain that you have everything you're supposed to have and it still doesn't feel like enough?
You don't have to explain it here. That feeling is exactly what brings most of my clients through the door.

A little about me
I'm Claire Whitfield, a licensed clinical social worker with over twenty years of experience. I work with people in midlife who are navigating transitions in identity, in relationships, and in the quiet question of what comes next.
My practice is intentionally small. I keep a limited caseload so I can offer each client the kind of attention and presence that makes therapy actually work.
More about Claire →Individual therapy
Sessions are 55 minutes, and I typically meet with clients weekly to start. My approach is conversational and direct. I'm interested in the patterns underneath the surface, and I'm not afraid to name what I see. Therapy should feel like it's going somewhere.
A small, intentional practice
I work with roughly 25 clients at a time. That means I know your story. I'm not reviewing notes before our session to remember where we left off. When you call or email, I'm the one who answers, usually the same day.
Start with a conversation
I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation before we commit to anything. It's not an intake or a sales pitch, just a chance for us to talk and see if the fit feels right. The relationship matters more than the resume.
“I came in thinking I needed to fix something specific. Claire helped me see that what I actually needed was to stop performing and start being honest with myself about what I want. That sounds simple but it changed everything.”
— Michelle, age 52
